7 Brew Energy caffeine is 133 mg in a large, 105 mg in a medium and 67 mg in a small. Every flavor carries the same amount, and so does the sugar-free version.
That is less caffeine than a large latte at the same counter, which surprises most people. Almost every figure circulating online for this drink is wrong, and further down you will see where the wrong numbers came from.
Quick answer: how much caffeine is in a 7 Brew Energy drink?
Small: 67 mg | Medium: 105 mg | Large: 133 mg (served iced). Every flavor and the sugar-free version have the same caffeine. Frozen Chillers have less. A large 7 Energy has less caffeine than a large 7 Brew latte (240 mg).

How Much Caffeine Is in a 7 Brew Energy Drink? Caffeine by Size
These are the published figures for 7 Energy served iced, which is how nearly everyone orders it:
| Size | Caffeine | Calories | Sugar |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 67 mg | ~180 | ~44 g |
| Medium | 105 mg | ~230 | ~57 g |
| Large | 133 mg | ~350 | ~88 g |
The flavor makes no difference to the caffeine. Brewberry, Ocean Breeze, Sunrise, Heatwave, Nightshade, Pixie Stick and Tropic Thunder all land on exactly the same 67 / 105 / 133 mg. They are the same energy base with different syrup.
The sugar-free versions are identical too — same caffeine, near-zero calories. More on that below.
Why Every Number You Find Online Is Different
Search this question and you get four different answers. We checked them all against 7 Brew’s own nutrition guide:
| Where you see it | Claim for a large | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| “around 200 mg” | Too high by about 67 mg | |
| Facebook answer pages | “about 152 mg” | Too high |
| A barista, in a Facebook group | “a medium is a full can, 180 mg” | Too high — a medium is 105 mg |
| 7 Brew’s nutrition guide | 133 mg | Correct |
Here is where the confusion starts. 7 Brew also sells 7 Energy in a 12 oz can, and the company states that the can contains 114 mg. That is a different product from the drink poured at the stand. People find the can figure, apply it to a cup, scale it up in their head, and arrive at 180 or 200.
The drink you order is mixed to order over ice. The can is not.
Frozen Chillers Have Less Caffeine, Not More
This one runs against instinct. Ordering a 7 Energy blended as a Frozen Chiller cuts the caffeine roughly in half:
| Size | Iced | Frozen Chiller |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 67 mg | 36 mg |
| Medium | 105 mg | 36–55 mg |
| Large | 133 mg | 71 mg |
Blending brings ice and mix into the cup, so there is simply less energy base in the same volume. If you are ordering a 7 Energy for the lift rather than the taste, order it iced.
One oddity worth flagging honestly: the guide lists the sugar-free Frozen Chillers higher than the regular ones — 114 mg for a large against 71 mg. That is what is published, and we are not going to smooth it over, but it is the one figure on this page we would treat with caution.

7 Brew Energy vs the Rest of the Menu
Put next to everything else at the counter, 7 Energy sits surprisingly low. All figures are for a large:
| Drink (large) | Caffeine |
|---|---|
| Cold Brew | 357 mg |
| Latte, Blondie, any espresso drink | 240 mg |
| Black Tea | 170 mg |
| 7 Energy | 133 mg |
| Green Tea | 79 mg |
A large 7 Energy carries just over a third of the caffeine of a large cold brew, and a little more than half of a large latte. If the energy drink feels stronger than the coffee, that is the sugar talking, not the caffeine. Our full 7 Brew caffeine guide covers every other drink on the menu.
The Real Story Is the Sugar
The caffeine in a 7 Energy is moderate. The sugar is not:
| Flavor (large, iced) | Sugar | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean Breeze | 91 g | 360 |
| Heatwave | 88 g | 360 |
| Sunrise | 88 g | 360 |
| Nightshade | 88 g | 350 |
| Tropic Thunder | 88 g | 350 |
| Brewberry | 87 g | 350 |
| Pixie Stick | 86 g | 350 |
A large Ocean Breeze carries 91 grams of sugar — about 23 teaspoons. That is roughly three and a half times the daily added-sugar limit the American Heart Association suggests for women (25 g), and two and a half times the limit for men (36 g).
The sugar-free version is the genuinely good option here
This is unusual, and worth knowing: the sugar-free 7 Energy gives you exactly the same caffeine — 67, 105 and 133 mg — for 0 to 10 calories and no sugar at all.
On much of the 7 Brew menu, “sugar-free” still carries sugar from fruit bases. Not here. Sugar-Free Brewberry, Ocean Breeze and Sunrise are true zeros. If you want the lift without 88 grams of sugar, this is the order. Our sugar-free guide explains where the catch does apply.
Every 7 Energy Flavor
Seven regular flavors and three sugar-free builds, all on the same energy base:
- Brewberry — blue raspberry and strawberry
- Ocean Breeze — the sweetest of the range at 91 g
- Sunrise — citrus, also available sugar-free
- Heatwave
- Nightshade
- Pixie Stick
- Tropic Thunder
- Sugar-free builds: Brewberry, Ocean Breeze and Sunrise
Because the caffeine is identical across all of them, pick on taste and on sugar, not on strength.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much caffeine is in a 7 Brew Energy drink?
A 7 Brew Energy drink has 67 mg of caffeine in a small, 105 mg in a medium and 133 mg in a large when served iced. The flavor and the sugar-free option do not change the caffeine.
How much caffeine is in a large 7 Brew Energy?
133 mg, served iced. That is less than a large latte (240 mg) and about a third of a large cold brew (357 mg).
How much caffeine is in a medium 7 Brew Energy?
105 mg. A small is 67 mg. Unlike the espresso drinks, where a small and a medium carry the same caffeine, 7 Energy does step up with every size.
Does sugar-free 7 Energy have the same caffeine?
Yes — 67, 105 and 133 mg, exactly the same as the regular version, with no sugar and almost no calories.
How much caffeine is in a 7 Energy can?
7 Brew states that its 12 oz retail can contains 114 mg. The can and the drink poured at the stand are different products, which is the main reason so many wrong figures circulate.
Is 133 mg of caffeine a lot?
Not especially. A standard 8 oz home-brewed coffee is around 95 mg, and most health guidance puts a healthy adult’s daily ceiling near 400 mg. A large 7 Energy uses about a third of that.
Which 7 Energy flavor has the most caffeine?
None of them. All seven flavors carry identical caffeine. They differ in sugar, where Ocean Breeze is highest at 91 g in a large.
Is 7 Brew Energy stronger than their coffee?
No. Every espresso drink on the menu beats it, and cold brew nearly triples it. Full figures are in our caffeine guide, and calories for every drink are in our searchable calorie chart.
What to Order
If you want the caffeine, order it iced, not frozen — blending halves it. If you want the caffeine without the sugar, order it sugar-free, which costs you nothing in strength. And if you actually want a strong drink, 7 Energy is not it: a cold brew carries almost three times as much.
