How do people pay for a 7 Brew franchise? Mostly with borrowed money plus a large slice of their own cash. A single 7 Brew stand costs close to $1 million or more to open, and 7 Brew signs multi-store deals, so financing is usually the hardest part of becoming an owner. This guide explains 7 Brew franchise financing in 2026: what 7 Brew itself offers, how SBA 7(a) and 504 loans work for a drive-thru stand, the SBA rule changes that took effect in 2025 and October 2026, and what lenders will expect from you.
Quick answer
7 Brew franchise financing almost always comes from outside lenders. FDD summaries list no direct financing from 7 Brew (Item 10). One stand costs $940,500 to $2,283,500 (May 2026 FDD). The main loan options are SBA 7(a) (up to $5 million), SBA 504 for land and building (up to $5.5 million), conventional bank loans and real estate financing. For SBA start-up loans, plan on at least 10% of the project in your own cash, and from October 1, 2026 every owner must be a U.S. citizen or national living in the U.S.

7 Brew Franchise Financing at a Glance
These are the numbers that shape any 7 Brew franchise financing plan. Franchise figures come from 7 Brewโs Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) as reported by FDD libraries; loan limits and rules come from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
| Item | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Total investment, one stand | $940,500 โ $2,283,500 | May 2026 FDD |
| Initial franchise fee | $35,000 | 2025 FDD |
| Minimum stores per deal | 5 (fees $75,000 total) | 2025 FDD |
| Financing offered by 7 Brew | None listed (Item 10) | FDD summaries |
| SBA 7(a) maximum | $5 million | SBA |
| SBA 504 maximum | $5.5 million | SBA |
| 7(a) + 504 combined | Up to $10 million (from July 4, 2026) | SBA rule |
| Minimum equity, SBA start-up | 10% of project cost | SOP 50 10 8 |
| SBA ownership rule | U.S. citizens or nationals only (from Oct 1, 2026) | SOP 50 10 8.1 |
Every figure above can change. FDDs are updated each year, and the SBA changed its lending rules twice in the last 18 months, so check the current versions before you apply.
Does 7 Brew Offer Franchise Financing?
No direct financing is listed. Item 10 of a Franchise Disclosure Document is where a franchisor must disclose any loans, leases or lender arrangements it offers. Third-party summaries of the 7 Brew FDD list no financing in that item, and the official 7brew.com/franchising page does not mention loans or a lending partner. It only asks interested people to apply.
That means 7 Brew franchise financing is your job. You will need to line up lenders and investors yourself, usually after you receive the FDD and before you sign the development agreement. Item 10 can change in a new FDD, so read that item in the copy 7 Brew gives you.
Some loan brokers and websites advertise a โ7 Brew franchise loan.โ Those are third-party lenders or referral services, not programs run by 7 Brew. They can still be useful, but compare their rates and fees with banks you choose yourself.
How Much Money Do You Need to Finance?
Start with the cost. The May 2026 FDD puts one stand at $940,500 to $2,283,500. The biggest pieces are site work and the building, not the coffee equipment. See our full 7 Brew franchise cost breakdown for the line items.
Then look at the deal size. In the 2025 FDD, 7 Brew only signed development agreements for at least five stands. You build them over a schedule, but you commit up front. Lenders know this, so they will look at your plan for all five, not just the first one.
| Scenario | Total project | 10% own cash | 20% own cash |
|---|---|---|---|
| One stand, low end | $940,500 | $94,050 | $188,100 |
| One stand, high end | $2,283,500 | $228,350 | $456,700 |
| Five stands, low end | About $4.7 million | About $470,000 | About $940,000 |
| Five stands, high end | About $11.4 million | About $1.14 million | About $2.28 million |
The 10% column is the SBA minimum for a start-up. The 20% column is a common ask from conventional banks for a new business, though every lender sets its own terms. The five-stand rows are our own math (five times the per-stand range), not FDD figures.
SBA 7(a) Loans for a 7 Brew Franchise
The SBA does not lend money directly. It guarantees part of a loan made by a bank or other approved lender, which makes the bank more willing to lend to a new business. The 7(a) program is the SBAโs main loan and the most common route for franchise buyers.
- Maximum loan: $5 million per the SBA.
- Uses: land and buildings, construction, equipment, furniture and fixtures, working capital, and the franchise fee.
- Interest: fixed or variable, with a cap set by the SBA above a base rate. Your lender quotes the actual rate.
- Collateral: since June 1, 2025, lenders must take available collateral on 7(a) loans over $50,000, including personal real estate in some cases.
- How to apply: through an SBA lender. The SBAโs free Lender Match tool can connect you with lenders.
For one 7 Brew stand, a 7(a) loan can cover most of the cost if you bring the required cash. For a five-stand plan, $5 million will not cover everything, which is why many 7 Brew development groups mix SBA loans with other financing.
SBA 504 Loans for Land and the Building
Because every 7 Brew is a drive-thru stand on its own lot, the SBA 504 program is worth a look if you plan to own the real estate. A 504 loan is made through a Certified Development Company (CDC) together with a bank.
- Maximum loan: $5.5 million, according to the SBAโs 504 page.
- Terms: 10, 20 or 25 years at a fixed rate tied to 10-year U.S. Treasury rates.
- Uses: land, new buildings, site improvements such as parking lots and utilities, and long-life equipment.
- Not allowed: working capital or inventory.
- Eligibility: tangible net worth under $20 million and average net income under $6.5 million after tax for the past two years, plus the usual SBA standards.
A new rule that took effect on July 4, 2026 lets a qualified borrower who gets a 7(a) loan first also use up to $5 million through the 504 program, for up to $10 million in SBA-backed financing. Before that date, the two programs shared one $5 million cap. For a multi-stand 7 Brew plan, that change matters: 504 can fund the real estate while 7(a) covers equipment and working capital.
New SBA Rules in 2026 That Affect 7 Brew Buyers
If you read an older guide on 7 Brew franchise financing, some of its SBA advice is now out of date. Two rule books changed the picture.
SOP 50 10 8 (effective June 1, 2025)
- 10% minimum equity: start-up businesses need at least 10% of the project cost from the owners.
- Stricter cash sources: lenders must verify where your down payment comes from.
- Lower collateral trigger: collateral is required on 7(a) loans above $50,000, down from $500,000.
SOP 50 10 8.1 (effective October 1, 2026)
- Citizenship: SBA loans are now limited to applicants whose owners and required guarantors are U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals with their main home in the United States. Green card holders qualified under the previous rules, which ran until September 30, 2026.
- Owning companies: if your business is owned by another company, that company must be formed in the United States.
- Equity and liquidity: lenders put more weight on how much real cash you invest and how much you have left after closing.
What this means for you
If any partner in your 7 Brew group is not a U.S. citizen or national, SBA loans are likely off the table for loans that receive an SBA loan number on or after October 1, 2026. Conventional bank loans, real estate financing and investor equity are the main alternatives. Confirm your situation with an SBA lender, since the full rules are long and have exceptions we have not covered here.
Is 7 Brew in the SBA Franchise Directory?
A franchise has to be listed in the SBA Franchise Directory before a lender can use an SBA loan for one of its stores. The current edition is dated July 24, 2026. The directory also notes whether an addendum (SBA Form 2462) has to be signed with the franchise agreement.
We could not open the July 2026 directory file to confirm 7 Brewโs listing ourselves, and we have not seen 7 Brew state it either. One franchise lending research site also reports that 7 Brew does not show up in the public SBA 7(a) loan data it tracks. That suggests many current owners have used conventional bank or real estate financing rather than SBA loans. Ask your SBA lender to check the directory for โ7 Brewโ or โBrew Culture Franchise, LLCโ before you plan around an SBA loan.
Other 7 Brew Franchise Financing Options
| Option | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional bank loan | Experienced multi-unit operators with strong balance sheets | Larger down payment and shorter terms than SBA |
| Real estate financing | Owners buying the land and building | Separate loan, appraisal and construction timing |
| Sale-leaseback | Freeing up cash after a stand is built | You become a tenant and pay rent for the long term |
| Ground lease | Lowering upfront cost | Rent adds to monthly costs; you do not own the land |
| Equipment financing | Espresso, blending and POS equipment | Equipment is a smaller share of total cost |
| Investor partners | Meeting the five-store commitment | Shared profits and control; SBA rules apply to every owner |
| 401(k) rollover (ROBS) | Using retirement savings as equity | Complex tax rules; get a CPA and specialist provider |
Most 7 Brew development groups combine several of these. A common pattern is owner cash plus investor equity for the down payment, a real estate loan or 504 loan for the land and building, and a 7(a) or bank loan for equipment and opening costs. Your mix will depend on your net worth, your partners and your market.
7 Brew Franchise Financing Requirements
Two groups have to approve you: 7 Brew and your lender. Their checklists overlap but are not the same.
What 7 Brew looks for
When it comes to 7 Brew franchise requirements, the company does not publish a minimum net worth or cash figure on its website. Franchise listing sites report about $1 million to $1.5 million in net worth and $300,000 to $750,000 in liquid assets, but we could not confirm those numbers in the FDD, so treat them as a rough guide. 7 Brewโs own page says the business is not for everyone and stresses fast-paced hospitality, staffing and servant leadership. Multi-unit restaurant or retail experience helps. Our 7 Brew franchise application guide covers the steps.
What lenders look for
- Down payment: at least 10% for an SBA start-up; often more for conventional loans.
- Credit history: clean personal and business credit for all major owners.
- Experience: food service, retail or multi-unit management.
- Collateral: business assets and, in many cases, personal real estate.
- Business plan: site details, a construction budget and sales projections. Lenders will compare your projections with Item 19 of the FDD.
- Liquidity after closing: cash left over to cover the slow first months.
Documents to prepare
- The current 7 Brew FDD and your signed development and franchise agreements
- Three years of personal and business tax returns
- A personal financial statement for each owner (for SBA loans, SBA Form 413)
- The SBA borrower application (Form 1919) and, where needed, Form 912
- Proof of where your down payment comes from
- Site plan, construction bids and a business plan with projections
What a 7 Brew Franchise Loan Payment Could Look Like
To give a feel for the monthly cost, here is a simple illustration. It assumes you put 10% down and borrow the other 90% at a 10% interest rate. This is our example only, not a quote. Your rate depends on the lender, the loan type and market rates.
| Loan | Amount | 10-year term | 25-year term |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low-end stand (90% of $940,500) | $846,450 | About $11,200 / month | About $7,700 / month |
| High-end stand (90% of $2,283,500) | $2,055,150 | About $27,200 / month | About $18,700 / month |
Longer terms, such as 25 years, are generally only available when real estate is part of the loan. Equipment and working capital usually get shorter terms. Payments like these come on top of the 4.5% to 7% weekly royalty and 2% brand fund. Read our 7 Brew royalty fee guide for how those tiers work.
Reports on the 2026 FDD put average gross sales for established franchised stands at about $2.65 million a year. Sales are not profit, though. Our guide on how much a 7 Brew franchise owner makes walks through what is left after costs, which is what lenders care about.
How to Finance a 7 Brew Franchise: Step by Step
- Total your net worth and liquid cash, and decide whether you will bring partners.
- Contact 7 Brew through 7brew.com/franchising and request an application.
- Get the FDD and read Items 5, 6, 7, 10, 19 and 21 with a franchise lawyer and an accountant.
- Ask two or three lenders, including at least one SBA lender, to pre-qualify you.
- Confirm whether 7 Brew is in the current SBA Franchise Directory and whether SBA Form 2462 is needed.
- Check that every owner meets the SBA citizenship rule if you plan to use SBA loans.
- Build a funding plan for all committed stands, not just the first one.
- Sign the development agreement only after your financing path is clear.
- Secure sites, close the loan for each stand, then build and open.
Is Financing a 7 Brew Franchise a Good Idea?
It can be, for the right buyer. 7 Brew stands report high average sales, and lenders tend to like strong brands with fast-growing systems. On the other hand, the cost per stand is high, the five-store commitment multiplies your debt, and the 2026 SBA changes closed the door for some owner groups.
The safest approach is to treat financing as part of your decision, not something to sort out after you sign. If the numbers only work with a perfect site and the lowest rate, think twice. If they work with room to spare, a 7 Brew franchise loan can make sense. For a side-by-side look at other brands, see our drive-thru coffee franchise comparison.
FAQs: 7 Brew Franchise Financing
Does 7 Brew offer financing to franchisees?
No direct financing is listed in summaries of 7 Brewโs FDD (Item 10), and its franchising page does not mention a lending program. Owners arrange their own loans through banks, SBA lenders and investors.
Can I use an SBA loan for a 7 Brew franchise?
Possibly. To get a 7 Brew SBA loan, the franchise must be listed in the SBA Franchise Directory, and from October 1, 2026 all owners and required guarantors must be U.S. citizens or nationals living in the U.S. We could not confirm 7 Brewโs listing, so ask an SBA lender to check the current directory.
How much down payment do I need for a 7 Brew franchise?
For an SBA start-up loan, at least 10% of the project cost, or about $94,050 to $228,350 per stand using the May 2026 FDD range. Conventional lenders often want more, and five stands multiply the amount.
What net worth do I need for a 7 Brew franchise?
7 Brew does not publish a minimum. Franchise listing sites report about $1 million to $1.5 million in net worth and $300,000 to $750,000 in liquid assets, but those figures are not confirmed in the FDD.
Can an SBA loan cover all five 7 Brew stores?
Usually not on its own. The 7(a) limit is $5 million, and since July 4, 2026 a borrower can add up to $5 million in 504 financing for a $10 million total. A five-stand plan can cost about $4.7 million to $11.4 million, so most groups also use bank loans, real estate financing or investors.
Can green card holders get an SBA loan for 7 Brew?
Not under the rules for loans that receive an SBA loan number on or after October 1, 2026. SOP 50 10 8.1 limits SBA loans to U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals with their main home in the U.S. Conventional loans are the main alternative.
Final Thoughts
7 Brew franchise financing comes down to three things: enough of your own cash, a lender that understands drive-thru real estate, and a plan for every stand you commit to. 7 Brew does not lend to franchisees, so SBA 7(a) and 504 loans, bank loans and investor partners do the heavy lifting. The SBA rules changed in 2025 and again on October 1, 2026, so get current advice from a lender, a franchise lawyer and an accountant before you sign anything.
